Role summary
Caruso has grown fast, and so has the team. Until now, people operations has been handled across the leadership team. We're hiring our first dedicated People & Culture Partner to own this function end-to-end: from recruitment co-ordination and onboarding through to performance, engagement, and the day-to-day experience of working at Caruso.
Reporting to the CEO, you'll be the person who makes sure Caruso hires well, onboards effectively, retains great people, and builds a culture that scales. This is a hands-on generalist role with real ownership. You won't be inheriting a playbook. You'll be writing it.
What you'll do
- Partner with hiring managers and external recruiters to coordinate the end-to-end hiring process, from role scoping and job briefs through to interview scheduling, candidate communication, and offer management.
- Design and run the onboarding process for new employees, coordinating with department leads to ensure people ramp quickly and feel connected from day one.
- Own and manage Caruso's ATS and HRIS systems, ensuring clean data, smooth workflows, and reliable reporting.
- Manage the annual performance review process, including goal-setting frameworks, review cycles, and calibration with managers.
- Design and implement people-focused initiatives that drive engagement, retention, and team wellbeing across a growing, multi-office company.
- Shape and protect Caruso's culture as the team scales, ensuring values are lived and not just written on a wall.
- Plan and coordinate team events, offsites, and rituals that bring people together across Auckland, Sydney, and remote team members.
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and employees on employment matters, policies, and best practice.
- Build foundational people policies and processes that are right-sized for a high-growth company: enough structure to scale, without unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Track and report on key people metrics (headcount, attrition, engagement, time-to-hire) to inform leadership decisions.
What we're looking for
- 3-5 years of experience in a people, HR, or talent role, ideally within a high-growth tech company, SaaS, or startup environment.
- Hands-on recruitment coordination experience: you've managed pipelines, partnered with hiring managers, and kept processes running smoothly.
